Four Ways J. Burns' Shows Up for Polk County

🏮 School & Team Spirit Nights

We host spirit nights for local schools, churches, sports teams, and dance troupes as often as we can — at all three shops. Your group picks a date, spreads the word, and 20% of the proceeds from your supporters’ orders goes straight back to your cause. Recent spirit nights have supported Winter Haven High School girls’ cross country, local dance teams, and church youth groups across Lakeland and Winter Haven.

🍕 The Pizza Truck at the Florida Children's Museum

Walk into the City Play gallery at the Florida Children’s Museum at Bonnet Springs Park and you’ll find a kid-sized J. Burns’ pizza food truck, where little chefs “bake” square-cut pies of their own. We sponsored the exhibit as one of the founding supporters when the museum, the reimagined Explorations V, opened its new 47,800-square-foot home in November 2022. Watching Polk County kids sling pretend pizzas might be our favorite thing we’ve ever put our name on.

Florida Children’s Museum members get 10% off at all three J. Burns’ shops. Show your membership card when you order and we’ll take care of the rest.

💛 Pizza With a Purpose

Once a month, our South Lakeland shop on S. Florida Ave hosts a Pizza With a Purpose spirit day benefiting the Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida. It couldn’t be simpler: come in for pizza, salads, or subs, drop your receipt in the bucket at the register, and 20% of the proceeds is donated to BCFCF to support local patients and breast cancer research. 🐕 Lakeland PD K-9 Unit

Through monthly fundraiser nights, our customers helped us raise an $11,000 donation to the Lakeland Police Department’s K-9 unit — money that goes toward purchasing and training a future K-9 officer for our city. Thank you to every neighbor who turned a pizza night into something bigger. This one belongs to all of us.

50 Years Later, Same Table

Fifty years later, J. Burns’ is still being enjoyed by the same family ♥ — from a 1970s birthday at the original shop (check out that vintage j. burns tee) to lunch today at our South Florida Ave location. Thank you for sharing this photo and for half a century of pizza nights.

Host Your Spirit Night at J. Burns'

It’s as simple as our pizza. 1. Reach out and pick a date at the shop nearest your group — Lakeland (Edgewood Dr or S. Florida Ave) or Winter Haven. 2. Rally your supporters to come in or order that day and mention your organization. 3. We donate 20% of your group’s proceeds back to your school, church, team, or cause. No tickets, no minimums — just a great pizza night that pays it forward.
